Saturday

Headache. Dehydration. Maybe linked to the significant amount of alcohol we had yesterday, at a guess. I reckon we quit at the right time, damage limitation and all that. Booze here is pretty cheap so no wonder stags and hens flock to this place

We agreed to meet for breakfast at 9:30. Before that a cup of tea in room. FFS only one English breakfast tea bag. I make 2 cups from one bag. We'll raid the breakfast room later.

Our bathroom is petty swish looking and has bath, shower but is compact. You have to close the door to get to WC and we have to operate a one person at a time policy.

Rob caught mid coughing fit

Breakfast buffet is actually very good. Fresh fruit, pastry, hot breakfast stuff, croissants and other pastries all on offer. I instantly manage to piss off the breakfast man by trying to change the language on the coffee machine which unbeknown to me causes a fault. He fixes is and I slink away. We irk him again later because the croissants run out and we ask for more. We want 3 and he brings 2 after an age. We don't grumble. He is chilled now tho and later brings 3 pan au chocolates which no-one wants but I feel obliged to eat 2. We're all friends again and the mini-paddy over the coffee machine fiasco is forgotten.

We talk about last night and Lisa reminds us of when we got back to the hotel and went to see Rob and Ange's room and when leaving she stuck her arse through the door gap and farted.

Today we decide to head off to Petrin Tower. We walk off breakfast and get to the funicular railway. On the way we see that twisty building thing, and a bunch of rocks forming an island for pigeons.

The queue for the funicular appears huge. The sun is beating down, but we stick it out and get on. During the wait we see a bird trapped behind a window, but bird cannot see big gap to side. A guy goes over and shooshes the bird to freedom. The queue claps the good guy.

We happily realise we can use our PID travel pass on the funicular so it's free to us. We get on and then get off at the first stop, thinking it's the last stop. Idiots. We dash back on but a load of others have got on in the meantime so it's a squeeze but the ride to the last stop is mercifully short.

Cue the queue
Fun fun fun on funicular

Then we head straight to Petrin Tower. Another queue for tickets, but doesn't take too long. Then inside, another queue. It's not very organised - typical mainland Europe. Ange goes for a slash and ducks under the barrier to avoid paying 20CZK (about 70p). There is a lift to the top of the tower which looks small, hence more queuing for that but we've decided to walk it. It is hard werk and I'm a little freaked by the height because the stairs are open to the outside at parts but just get on with it, not looking down if I can help it. There's a mid level for some respite, and after some snaps there we decide to level-up and go for the top. The top is crowded and enclosed, so we snap and go. The tower sways like a bastard up there. We feel the burn on our legs and Lisa's legs are shaking for some time after the descent.

Our ticket gets us into the Mirror Maze and we do that - it's small but fun and had those curvy ones that make you look fat/skinny etc. I still look fat in the skinny one ☹️.

Here comes the Mirror Maze

We get down the hill via funicular, eat ice cream, get 2 trams and find a river cruise. The cruise is just about to go so we've timed it perfectly. We get a free drink (we choose beer for boys, hot drinks for girls). The cruise is a welcome sit down for about an hour. The sights are lovely. Lisa freaks when she sees a beaver; we'd seen some last night from the bridge but didn't know what it was.

After this we head off to see the Astronomical Clock which is a big attraction. The square is lovely and a real vibrant centre.

Square

Time for food - pizza. We find a place just off the square and we eat outside. This is the most expensive meal so far, mainly because it's in a very touristy area. Still only £25pp. Pizza is gooood.

You wanna pizza me?

Then back to hotel via some shops and the market. 2 hours rest, then out for drinks. We walk for about 45 mins, Lisa not liking the look of seats and/or other reasons. Ultimately we do a big circuit and end up back in the square where we were earlier. We spot a table at a restaurant near the funky fairytale castle place and settle with a couple of drinks. A fair few stag parties go by, I think all Brits. Not really a disturbance tho, well behaved.

We saunter back towards the hotel. Ange buys sweeties and we continue walking and accidentally end up in a big wide street which has bars, shops and a McDonalds. Well you have to, don't you? We have some cheeky snacks and head home. Get back to hotel Aureus Legends around 23:00.
